We’re Stef and Lara, the dynamic duo behind Rosie O’Grady’s in Napier, Hastings, and Taradale. Believe it or not, our love story began in the ’90s at the OG Rosie’s – where sparks flew, and our passion for Irish pubs ignited like a well-poured pint of Guinness.

Fast forward through years of working, managing pubs, starting a family, and building careers – we couldn’t shake the dream of bringing Rosie’s legendary Irish hospitality back to Hawke’s Bay. In 2019, we scored the lease for the Provincial Hotel in Napier, envisioning an Art Deco haven. Then bam! 2020 hit like a rogue wave, putting the brakes on our plans faster than you can say “sláinte.”

But when life hands you lemons, or in our case, a pandemic, you make lemonade… or open a pub in Taradale! The first Rosie’s revival hit the scene in April 2021, with Hastings following suit in August – earthquake strengthening, licensing hiccups, and Covid curveballs included. Napier, oh Napier, took its sweet time but finally joined the Rosie’s party in December 2022.

Sure, it was a wild ride – lockdowns, delays, and enough stress to turn anyone a few shades of green. But let us tell you, opening those doors was worth every twist and turn. Rosie O’Grady’s Hawke’s Bay is more than a pub to us; it’s our heart and soul with a Kiwi twist on the Irish classic.

We’ve got Guinness flowing like a river, pub grub that’ll make your taste buds dance, and enough craic to keep you grinning from ear to ear. Yet, what truly makes Rosie’s magic happen is our fantastic team and the Irish hospitality they dish out like it’s going out of style.
